Traditional and Photojournalistic Wedding Photography

There are two primary approaches to wedding photography that are recognized today: Traditional and Photojournalistic Wedding Photography.
The Whidbey Island Wedding Photographer will provide Traditional Wedding Photography, which provides for more classically posed images and a great deal of photographer control and interaction on the day of the wedding.
The Whidbey Island Wedding Photographer will also provide Photojournalistic Wedding Photography, which takes its cue from editorial photography reporting styles and focuses more on candid and unposed images with little photographer set up.
These are two extremes of what Whidbey Island Wedding Photographer offers and my photography services will encompass both or favor one photography style over the other.

Fashion-Based Wedding Photography

A third wedding photography style that is becoming more and more in demand is a fashion-based approach.
In Fashion-Based Wedding Photography, photojournalistic images of the events of the day are combined with posed images that are inspired by editorial fashion photography, as would be found in magazines like Vogue or Vanity Fair.
These images are often very bold or stark images, with unique lighting and perspectives.

Contemporary Wedding Photography

Another wedding photography term, Contemporary Wedding Photography, is used to describe wedding photography that is not of a traditional nature.
The emphasis in Contemporary Wedding Photography is to capture the story and atmosphere from the day, so the viewer has an appreciation of what the wedding was like, rather than a series of pre-determined poses and groupings.
However, this term is often mistaken by amateur photographers to mean any photography that is not posed or formal.
My photography services will demonstrate this style as it is defined.
The advent and advancement of digital cameras and the ease of advertising on the internet have allowed many untrained photographers to offer their photography services as contemporary or photojournalistic wedding photographers.
Contemporary Wedding Photography is an art that involves the use of composition, lighting and timing to capture photography that has a strong visual appeal.

My name is Sean Callahan and I am passionate about my photography!
As a photographer, I am lucky enough to have the opportunity to capture the hilarity, joy, and emotion that erupts when people's lives are celebrated.
My work is always moving, always changing and full of new opportunities.
I really can't think of a more rewarding job in the world!

I am a Very Lucky Man

I have a fun, loving wife, two happy children and I work in an occupation that rewards my creative expression while enriching the lives of others!
Also, I am allowed to spend a great amount of time with my family and treat them to mini-vacations when I travel for destination weddings!
I tend to work primarily on weekends and spend the rest of my time involved in other pursuits, including family time at the pool or park, exercising, attempting to learn javascript, reading, lots of volunteering, and discovering new needs and ways to help others.
I am truly blessed. I belong to a great church and have strong accountability partners that help keep me focused on God and family first.
I enjoy very simple things, like jogging as the sun rises and the beauty of the sky or nature.
I get excited when I consider the myriad of future possibilities that I look forward to. I always have a passion for a project and I am a morning person, bounding out of bed, eager to resume my life and passions each day.
I look forward to bringing my passion, energy and skills to every job.

The Whidbey Island Photographer Philosophy

There is a popular saying with business networks, "Givers get." This saying is true in life, but I hate to think that others sole reason to give is their motivation to recieve. I trust completely in God to provide for my family and I have faith that I am called to give in a selfless manner, without thought for compensation.

I am actively involved in ministry at my church and I am sure to never market or promote myself as a photographer there.
I also give my time and finances to support the Childrens Home Society and the Defender Foundation.
I have always been committed to service in the church and I know that I have an 'Acts Of Service' personality.
I thoroughly enjoy helping others and I am counted as one of the people who gain more pleasure from giving than I do from receiving.
I am fortunate to be able to be a good steward and give to others without needing anything in return.
I value relationships and I look to help others wherever I see a need.
